Department Holds 3rd Annual Research Retreat at Carlos Museum

The Department of Urology held its 3rd Annual Research Retreat at the Michael C. Carlos Museum on January 13th, 2017. The event showcased the department's diverse research interests, brought in collaborators from other departments and institutions, and hosted a Best Poster competition for residents and medical students.

Emory Urology faculty lecturers included Haydn Kissick, PhD, who presented on prediction of renal cell carcinoma response to nivolumab, Chris Filson, MD, who discussed prostate biopsies post-USPSTF guidelines, and Aaron Lay, MD, who presented on ureteral stenting after ureteroscopy.

Researchers and scientists from outside the department were invited to speak as well, which broadened perspectives and enlightened attendees to possible future collaborative efforts. The speakers included:

The retreat was highlighted by the best poster competition among trainees. A total of 12 posters were presented. Podium presentations were made by PGY-2 resident Mark Henry, MD, PGY-3 resident Louis Aliperti, MD, and PGY-4 resident Adam Lorentz, MD. Dr. Lorentz won best poster for his presentation "Liquid Biopsy in Renal Cell Carcinoma."
