Urology and Therapeutics Program News
In 2009, the MUT Program has
obtained three new grants to conduct research:
- Dr. Leland Chung's NIH Program
Project Grant (P01) entitled "Prostate Cancer Bone Metastasis:
Biology and Targeting" was renewed for five years until 2013.
- The goal of this inter-institutional,
multidisciplinary grant is to define the biology and targeting potential
of tumor-stromal interaction, validate biomarkers in tissue and
serum specimens and ultimately translate these discoveries into
clinical practice.
- Dr. Wen-Chin Huang received
a one-year Prostate Cancer Research Program grant from the Georgia Cancer
Coalition for his project entitled "Targeting ß2-microglobulin
signaling axis in human prostate cancer stem cells".
- The goal of this research
is to develop a novel ß2M mAb as a new and promising anti-prostate
cancer drug for clinical application in the near future by understanding
the molecular mechanism of blocking the ß2M signaling axis
using the mAb in human prostate cancer stem cells.
- Dr. Daqing Wu received a
one-year Prostate Cancer Research Program grant from the Georgia Cancer
Coalition for his project entitled "
- The goal of this project
is to evaluate the potential of controlling bone-metastatic prostate
cancer with a novel survivin-targeted therapy.
