The Models Predicting Prostate
Cancer Progression (MPPP) group is composed of three major components,
plus a reference lab. Its goal is to pursue the establishment of reliable
and predictive human PCa cell and xenograft models mimicking human PCa
progression.
Leaders of four areas of research
emphasis are identified:
- Establishment of freshly
harvested human PCa xenografts with propensity for bone and soft tissue
metastases (YZ
Wang and
Martin
Gleave)
- Provision of well characterized
LNCaP and ARCaP progression models and adult, fetal, and reactive stromal
cells, and genetically tagged or modified human PCa and stromal cells
for further characterization (Leland
Chung)
- Provision of immortalized
and transformed human prostate epithelial cells, genetically modified
cells with defined alterations of cell signaling axis (William
Hahn)
- Reference lab at Bristol-Myer
where new pharmaceuticals with defined interruption of intracellular
signaling network will be tested (Ricardo
Attar)
